I don’t know about you, but in the winter time my skin gets flaky and itchy and just so dry! It’s hard to find a product that moisturizes well enough that is healthy for skin. Well, if this sounds like you too, then you’ll be happy to know about our lotion bars. What exactly is a lotion bar? A lotion bar is a great product designed with dry skin in mind. It is a bar of solid lotion.
Most lotions on the market have water as their #1 ingredient. Did you know that when you add water to a product you also have to include a pretty strong preservative? The added water is what causes bacteria and mold to be able to grow. Keep out the moisture, keep out the yuck. This is why it is so important to keep our products nice and dry. :)
Getting back to lotion bars…so, a bar of solid lotion. What you do is hold this lovely bar in your hand and rub it into your desired location. The lotion bar will melt on contact with your skin due to it’s melting temperature. Not only do you receive extra moisture, but a little massage as well. Our decadent lotion bars are hand made with Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil and Essential oils. Depending on the scent, some of these oils may be house infused and you might notice little fragments of herbs in your lotion bars.
We utilize beeswax, not only because it really helps keep things in a solid form, but also because it is water resistant. Beeswax helps to form a protective barrier on your skin to resist the elements and protect it from irritants while still allowing your skin to breathe. Beeswax also offers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral benefits. Beeswax is an emollient and a humectant. It works by drawing moisture into your skin and sealing it in.
The shea butter and cocoa butter we use are raw and not de-scented, like many are. You will notice an underlaying cocoa and nutty smell in all of our lotion bars. We feel that using these ingredients in their natural state without being refined will give you THEE best results. When these ingredients are refined, the manufacturer takes out the color and the scent to make them “easier” to work with. We firmly believe that takes out some of the amazing benefits these butters provide. Cocoa butter helps to reduce stretch marks, works at getting rid of free radicals in your skin, is high in fatty acids, deeply hydrates your skin, helps with skin irritations, and smells delicious. Shea butter is an extremely moisturizing butter, is high in vitamin A, reduces inflammation, helps heal wounds, and the Shea Nut tree is called The Tree of Life. (If that doesn’t tell you how amazing this butter is..)
Avocado Oil is one of the best oils for dry skin. It is so deeply moisturizing and has been know to boost collagen production. It is absorbed deeply into your skin. Sunflower oil is high in Vitamins A, E and D and is also an emollient. It helps to prevent sun damage and absorbs easily into your skin. For many of our lotion bar scents wen use a combination of Avocado and Sunflower oil infused with herbs. We infuse these oils ourselves. The medicinal power of the herbs transfers right into each lotion bar!
